TRY TEA SET

WELCOME TO YOUR TEA TASTING

You are about to taste five different teas from top growing regons in Asia.

THE TRY TEA BOOKLET

The English version of the 60-page booklet that is included in the set (in German) can be downloaded here.

TASTING INSTRUCTIONS

THE COFFEES
All five teas are being made from the same plant (Camellia Sinensis). The differences in appearance and taste are due to: Cultivar/Variety, Origin, Harvest times and Processing. (Find out more in the booklet.)

PREPARING YOUR TASTING
For the tea tasting you need: 5 cups, which can hold at least 100 ml of tea, a tablespoon and a glass of water for each taster, kitchen scales (alternatively a teaspoon to measure the tea), a kettle and the tea bags from this set (alternatively two cups for each tea to separate the leaves from the tea after the brewing time).

BREWING

My recommendation is to try the teas in three brewing rounds. 1. round: white Tee (Pu Er Bai Ya), 2. round: the green teas (Kabusecha & Long Jing), 3. round: the Oolong (Oriental Beauty) and the black tea (Darjeeling).

  • Pu Er Bai Yai: Brewing temperature: 80 degrees, Brewing time: 3 min
  • Kabusecha: Brewing temperature: 70 degrees, Brewing time: 1 min
  • Long Jing: Brewing temperature: 80 degrees, Brewing time: 1.5 min
  • Oriental Beauty: Brewing temperature: 85 degrees, Brewing time: 2 min
  • Darjeeling: Brewing temperature: 80 degrees, Brewing time: 2 min

In the booklet you find the more on water temperature, brewing times and the amount of tea.

MULTIPLE EXTRACTIONS

All teas can be brewed at least twice. If you like, you can do a second round tasting each tea. This time, I would start with the black and Oolong and finish the tasting with the Pu Er Bai Ya.
